Purpose: The aim of the dissertation is to investigate the impact of manager leadership style on the level of job satisfaction that perceived by employees in Chinese restaurant in Dublin and further explore other identified factors lead to employee job satisfaction in this sector. Methodology/Approach: The researcher adopted a positivist epistemological position to guide this study. A survey strategy which employed the deductive approach was used for this research. The survey focused on Chinese staff working in Chinese restaurants in Dublin. Primary data were collected through survey which involved questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. Semi-structured interviews were employed following the findings gathered from questionnaire in an exploratory manner, aim to identify other factors lead employee job satisfaction.
Findings/Conclusion: The manager leadership style has impact on the level of employee job satisfaction, especially the people-oriented leadership style has a positive relationship with the level of job satisfaction that perceived by employees in Chinese restaurant in Dublin. There was a high level of job satisfaction among Chinese workers in this sector, other identified factors lead job satisfaction were the conditions of ethnic labour market, the relationship with co-worker, the self-development opportunity and the management structure. Contribution: The work would provide restaurant operator with an insight into the impact of manager leadership behaviour on the employee's job satisfaction. Management should bear in mind that any action to improve employee's satisfaction with their job should take into account.
