    Abstract
In this study twenty-two participants each played two video games, Warhammer 40,000 Space marine and Journey, a violent and non-violent game respectively. While participants did this their heart rate was recorded. According to the General Aggression Model participant aggression and arousal are strongly linked to one another (Anderson & Bushman, 2001). Personality is also a factor in participant video game preference. However, it was found that participant aggression was not correlated with their arousal, nor was it found that personality was correlated with either participants arousal or their video game preference. The implications of this and avenues for future research are also discussed. Author keywords: video game, arousal, aggression, personality, general aggression model, heart rate
