Abstract
This study investigated the influence of Self Esteem, Body Image and Personality on obtaining a form of body art in adults. A total of 104 participants completed the questionnaires, 51 had no form of body art and 53 had. The questionnaire contained, biographical details, a silhouette to mark the location of body art, the Rosenberg self esteem scale, the body image questionnaire and the Eysenck personality inventory. A small negative correlation was found between psychoticism and exposed body art [r= -.246, n=104, p <.05], a negative correlation was found between male body image and exposed body art [r = -.418, n=27, p<.05]. There was no significance found in the influence of Self Esteem, Body Image and Personality on individual obtaining a form of body art.
