The aim of this dissertation is to give an overview of eCommerce and how it is effecting the business communities of today notably the airline industry, focusing on Aer Lingus. This is achieved by looking at how business processes have changed since the advent of eCommerce. As eCommerce is fuelled by how involved businesses get it is important to show how eCommerce effects their business processes. Secondary research discovered what areas of eCommerce effect both businesses and consumers alike. It discovered the ways in which eCommerce is effecting the business world and how it will continue to do so. It also discovered obstacles in the way of businesses joining the eCommerce phenomenon. eCommerce is putting new rules in the face of business and it is necessary to discover how businesses are shaping up to the challenge. The airline industry has faced many challenges in the form of eCommerce and as part of this dissertation I looked at how these changes have effected their overall business objectives and the major parts of their industry. Primary research involved the in-depth analysis of all information concerned with eCommerce and the airline industry. With regard to Aer Lingus it involved semi-formal interviews. Which in turn supported or disagreed with the information researched within the airline industry.en
