dc.description.abstract | The report is divided into seven chapters. The first chapter provides an overview of the history of the translation industry and an introduction to localisation and internationalisation. A global localization process is described in detailed in chapter two. It deals with the procedure of how to localise software and what issues that should be considered when localising software. Chapter three provides some questions that need to be considered for localisation for a vendor side of view. These issues are important for a localisation project. Chapter four includes a review of some of the most popular localisation software on the market. This report also gives a general overview of internationalisation, which is the development work that is done by the software publisher to make the product suitable for use in other countries. It also includes some of the issues that are hardest to deal with in translation, such as text fragmentation. Finally it provides the future of localisation, i.e. how will localisation develop over the next few years. | en |
