dc.description.abstractR/3 from SAP AG is an integrated, client/server, distributed system with a graphical user inter-face, it can operate on a wide range of mainframes, minicomputers, and servers, as well as many different operating systems. The R/3 package includes integrated financial accounting, production planning sales and distribution, cost-center accounting, order costing, materials management, plant maintenance, and project planning applications. R/3 can be configured to run on a single hardware platform, or it can be portioned to run on separate machines in order to minimize network traffic and place data where users need them the most.en
