The Internet is playing an increasing role within all of our lives. It is using widely for both businesses and individuals. This dissertation examines the Internet's use within organisations and how individuals are interacting through the use of electronic commerce. It analyses the security threats and provides some preventative methods that can be used to protect businesses and individuals. Primary research was also carried out to help measure how users feel about the Internet. The result of the questionnaire showed the importance of the Internet security. Few people would do shopping online because of security problem. But most people believed that Internet provide a convenient way for shopping. The Internet has a real future with the potential for commercial growth if the security issue is being treated seriously.
