Before Globus was installed, Garras Bank - Naspa Dublin used a system called Midas as the main book-keeping system, which was out-sourced through a service contract with another bank, and an in-house system in Access called Tracker. Globus was installed and implemented in Garras Bank - Naspa Dublin over a six month period. The system went live in October 1998, following a one-month parallel run with the above two systems. Since 01.11.98 Globus is running as the bank's sole banking system. Therefore 1.5 years after going live I intend to analyse how the system was implemented in the bank, how it has been adopted into the company and whether it meets the requirements of the bank as a whole. In evaluating the implementation of the integrated banking system, I have applied a Framework known as the Systems Development Life Cycle. For the purposes for this project I have broken the life cycle down into five phases, namely:
• Identifying the problem
• Systems Analysis
• Systems Design
• Systems Implementation
After applying this model to this implementation project within Garras Bank - Naspa Dublin, I will then analyse the project - outlining after 1.5 years how the system has been embedded into the organisation, what issues have arisen due to the implementation and perhaps what could have been done differently.
