    Abstract
The aim of the current study is to identify if an individuals orientation of locus of control, means they are significantly more inclined to be more successful and progressive within their career, and also be able to control stress levels more successfully. Sixty participants working in finance and other areas in Ireland took part in an anonymous questionnaire set up online. The questionnaire consisted of forty-seven questions, including demographic questions, a Locus of Control Scale, and the Perceived Stress Scale. The sample group are looked at together and also divided into gender types. The hypothesis that an individual with an internal locus of control would have progressed more in their career than those with an external locus of control was supported by the results.
