Sleep and recovery periods are crucial to employee wellbeing and job performance. Despite the vast literature on sleep, few studies focus on the impact of poor sleep on employees in Ireland. The aim of this study is to further explore the relationship of both quantity and quality of sleep on perceived stress, resilience and work engagement. A total of 62 participants consented to take part in an online sleep survey. Findings from this mixed correlational and experimental design showed a significant difference in stress and resilience between sleep quantity groups and a significant correlation between stress, resilience and sleep quality, with no significance for work engagement. Moreover, there was a significant relationship between bedtime and engagement with work. Findings from this investigation have potential implications for individual and organisational wellbeing, more specifically for the development of work-based intervention programmes aimed at promoting sleep.en
