    Abstract
    Post may 2004, Ireland’s labour market has opened its gates for skilled and highly skilled migrants. After the inclusion of new member states in the EU, Ireland has adopted a liberal migration policy that has helped to emerge as a major destination for Indian migrants, especially the nurses. This study is undertaken to explore the various challenges faced by Indian migrant nurses in Ireland that undermines the future of the migration scenario. Global outreach has helped Indian diaspora to contribute to the development of the Indian economy. The essential aspect of this study is to identify the gaps that would determine the migrant contribution towards the development of their home country and their experience in Ireland that determines their future stay. The macro-economic variables as well as the migrant behaviour is explored to fulfill the objectives of the study. It provides voice to the migrants to express their expectations and difficulties they faced while settling in Ireland. Although the recession faced by the world has affected the migration scenario but still Indian economy appears on the top slot of receiving remittances from their Indian diasporas settled abroad. The health service skilled workers are in demand in all parts of the globe. Indian migrant nurses settled in Ireland have shared their professional as well as personal experiences which provides an insight about their expectations from the process of migration.
