    Abstract
The aim of the current study is to investigate the effectiveness of work-life balance initiatives in the Irish workplace. A self-developed postal questionnaire was used, which included the Satisfaction with life Scale (SWL) and Perceived Stress Scale (PSS). This questionnaire was distributed through peers and colleagues, whom in turn, distributed them in their workplaces. Eighty-two questionnaires were returned, 61 from females and 21 from males. A within-subjects design was used. All participants were required to fill out all parts of the same questionnaire, and return it by post. Overall results suggest that work-life balance initiatives have a Significant, positive effect on life satisfaction for females. However, females still experience high levels of perceived stress. Therefore, the current study would suggest further research into the causes of perceived stress in individuals in the Irish workplace.
