Abstract
The aim of this study was to experimentally examine the effects of cannabis on the memory of university students. The sample consisted of 100 college students, (52 were non-cannabis users and 48 were cannabis users). A between subjects design was employed. All students answered the same questionnaire, containing questions on attitudes to drugs. Participants were also asked to recall a 30 item word list shown to them for 5 minute before filling out the questionnaire. Results indicated a significant difference between the control and experimental group on number of words recalled from the memory recall test (F [1] = 45.497, p> 0.01). It was concluded that there was a relationship between memory retardation and cannabis use.
