Abstract
This capstone project evaluates the feasibility of launching a women-only gym in Ireland that focuses on fitness, wellbeing, and creating a supportive environment for women. The business is designed to meet the needs of women who may feel uncomfortable or overlooked in traditional mixed-gender gyms. By offering a dedicated women-only space, the gym aims to encourage long-term participation in exercise through inclusivity, confidence, and community. The gym will offer a range of services including group classes, strength and cardio training, personal training, and wellbeing supports. The target market includes women aged 18-65, particularly beginners and those returning to exercise. Market analysis shows growing demand for specialised fitness services and limited direct competition in the women-only gym segment, indicating a strong opportunity for differentiation. Strategic analysis highlights that the business can achieve a competitive advantage through personalised services, clear branding, and a welcoming, judgement-free atmosphere. Financial projections were prepared over a three-year period and include forecast statements of profit or loss, cash flows, and financial position. The results demonstrate that the business is financially viable, with break-even achievable at realistic membership levels once operations stabilise. Key risks such as cost inflation, member retention, and market competition were identified and addressed through pricing strategies, cost controls, and strong customer engagement. An implementation plan outlines the key steps required to launch and operate the gym effectively. Overall, the project concludes that the proposed women-only gym is both feasible and sustainable, with the potential to generate financial returns while delivering meaningful health and social benefits to its members.
