Abstract

Society today is constantly on the go and growing numbers of people can be seen day to day drinking some form of caffeine usually coffee. It is the main aim of this research project to explore whether there was a difference in caffeine consumption between males and females and also caffeine consumption between younger and older participants. METHODS: A quantitative questionnaire was used. Data was collected from 200 participants of the general public in the Dublin area from the ages of 18-87 years of age. RESULTS: Results showed that there was a difference in caffeine consumption between males and females with males consuming more caffeine (6 drinks per day) compared to that of females (4 drinks per day). CONCLUSION: The study shows that there is a significant correlation between caffeine consumption and gender and likewise a significant correlation between caffeine consumption and age. Other variable were examined in the study in comparison with caffeine consumption and will be explained in detail further on.
