Abstract
Initially I intended to shoot a literal interpretation of the song titles which had inspired me throughout my life. I began with The Smiths, shooting ‘Meat Is Murder’ and ‘Bigmouth Strikes Again’ before I realised a more sadistic connotation to my work. ‘Welcome To The Dollhouse’ transformed into a homage to the disturbed, a portrayal of beauty to be found amongst the repulse. The subject of murder, religion and torture, yet we confront and dismiss this subject matter, regarding it as mundane, on a daily basis, this is what fascinates and inspires my photography.
