Abstract
The Information Technology (IT) industry is highly digitized with the rapid transformation of the industry making a significant change in the project management landscape. Traditional methods involving spreadsheets, emails, and manual reporting have increasingly been replaced by digital project management tools, such as Jira, Asana, Trello, and Microsoft Project. This paper examines the effect of such tools on how IT professionals in Irish IT firms are perceived to be productive, more so in hybrid working conditions. Based on a quantitative research design, the primary data collection was made through an online survey among 51 participants, who are working in multinational and national IT companies. The analysis used descriptive statistics, correlation, regression, and ANOVA tests to analyze the relationship between the adoption of digital tools, ease of use, perceived usefulness, training, and productivity outcomes. Findings also suggest that although tools typically have a positive impact on communication, task completion, and collaboration, such variables as digital maturity, training, and organisational culture have a significant negative impact on the results. The research helps to fill the gap in knowledge about the adoption of digital project management in Ireland and to make practical suggestions on how organisations can enhance their productivity using digital tools.
