Abstract

This paper provides a comparative analysis of Russian and Irish legal systems, and examines some of the changes in employment legislation that have occurred over the last fifteen years. A critical review of the legislation establishes that there have been significant developments in both countries, in the area of individual as well as collective labour law. Similarities of these developments illustrate the attempts of states to develop adequate legislation to meet the requirements of the international market economy, as well as the changing political order. Thus, these changes playa significant role in the harmonisation and unification of the law in modem societies.
