Abstract

Technology is both directly and indirectly undermining both the space and sense of place of the visual artist. The wealth generated through telecommunications industries has precipitated the commercial redevelopment of Dublin, causing property prices to, soar beyond the reach of most artists, who will lose their space in the city while image making technology is proving to be a challenge to traditional modes of fine art practice.
