The purpose of this paper is to research American media and to find out if journalism in America changed as a result of the terrorist attacks of September 11th in 2001. After researching American media from before September 11th and America media after September 11th in print and broadcast forms, I will find out if journalism changed in America and where these changes occurred, as well as whether the changes, if any, were in broadcast or print journalism or both. Most of the research into broadcast journalism will be done in the literature review and the research into print journalism will be my own research using articles from The New York Times and The Miami Herald, from both before and after September 11th. Changes I am looking for are the types of stories covered for example hard news and soft news, attitude towards the government in terms of the journalists role as a critic, and also the amount of attention paid to international affairs.en
