Abstract

The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between emotional intelligence using the Emotional Capital Inventory and leadership style using the Multi factor Leadership Questionnaire. Personality influence is also accounted for using the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire Revised Abbreviated. This study was conducted using a quantitative cross-section correlation questionnaire design for between participants. Participants were 175 part time students at Dublin Business School. The results showed a significant relationship between emotional intelligence, leadership style and personality. Emotional Intelligence showed to be a significant predictor of transformational leadership. The significance of the findings in relation to relevant literature are discussed.
