Abstract
Autism is one of the most difficult and intractable conditions that families may have to cope with. It is a major cause of stress in families, some of which are immediate and devastating, others are subtle and are experienced over years. There is no known cure for autism, each manifestation is unique and needs to be dealt with on an individual basis. The aim of this study was to examine what families want for their child who has autism and to look at how the lack of autism specific services impact on the family both now and into the future.
