Abstract
The aim of this dissertation is to examine the reasons behind the high turnover rate of employees in the hospitality sector in Ireland and further determine the extent to which total reward would address these identified causes thereby improving retention. This research has become necessary at this time given the huge contributory role this sector plays in terms of employment and gross domestic product and yet saddled with problems of skill shortages due to the high attrition rate.
